Sports at Newland St John's
We are a sporty lot at Newland St John's!
We encourage our children to take part in a lot of sporting activities:
We are part of the St Mary's sports cluster and therefore have access to exciting tournaments, expert coaching, secondary school facilities and visiting workshops at least once a week for different age groups in the school.
As well as the usual curriculum PE taught each week at school, the children have access to sporting clubs such as hockey, football, netball and gymnastics.
Each class is taught to dance by our resident professional dance teacher at least once a fortnight. Some children also take private lessons with us and are working through the examination grades. We have a 100% pass rate.
We have a special cricket coach who comes in once a week to take each class.
We have what can be described as both an activity based and competitive sports day each year - weather permitting!
The children in Year Four have swimming lessons at Ennerdale Sports Centre.
We often have whole school 'Mega' sports days where we take part in activities such as aerobics, rounders, parachute games (not parachute jumping!) and physical challenges.
We love PE!
