Birch Class Website Information
Curriculum Planning
· Over the course of the year, Year 1 will cover three main themes, one per term. These will include Treasure, Dungeons and Dragons and Minibeasts.
Teaching Staff
· Miss Stewart – Nursery Nurse, will be working in Birch Class on Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons.
· Miss Rowe – Teaching Assistant, will be working with Birch Class everyday.
Reading/ Homework
· Book bags need to be returned on a Tuesday and will be sent home on a Thursday.
· Children will receive maths homework, spellings to learn for a Wednesday and occasionally a handwriting sheet.
P.E.
· P.E is timetabled for Wednesdays.
Show and Tell
· Show and Tell is a time during the week when the children have the opportunity to either bring something special from home to show or to share some news with the rest of the class. The children really enjoy this opportunity and it helps them to organise information, builds their confidence and improves their listening skills. Show and Tell takes place every Friday afternoon and the children are encouraged to think of at least two things that they would like to tell the rest of the class about what they have bought in.
